Second poster analysis.

For my second poster and i am choosing to analyse 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas' poster as shown below.

Camera shot: This poster is a portrait long shot, the shot used here allows us to see the vast landscape along with him sitting behind a fence talking to a Jew. The audience seeing this will be questioning why the boy would be talking to a jew therefore will draw the audience in to watch it.

Lighting: The lighting in this picture seems like natural lighting in the day time, this just seems like an image from the actual film, this image is based on reality because this is the reality of the film.

Image: The fact that the picture in this poster gives away hardly anything contrasted with the strong slogan makes this poster appeal to me as it would an audience for this film. in the poster we make i would like to make our poster strong like this.

Slogan: In this poser i feel the slogan in very strong. 'Lines may devide us, but hope will unite us'.

Target audience.

We have decided our target audience for our film is a certificate of 15 because of the narrative content.
Our narrative has content in it which people under 15 wouldn't understand and shouldn't understand. We feel the narrative which is about a boy who is thinking about suicide isn't suitable for people udner the age of 15. Although this film doesn't contain any mature scenes in it we just feel the storyline is to strong. This is why we feel our film would be the cetificate of 15.

Location and Costume.

Main Character.

Our main character in our film is meant to wear natural clothing. Day to day clothing the character would usually wear.

The picture on the right is a picture of what our main character wears on a day to day basis. He would usually wear skinny jeans, polo top/ t-shirt and a cardigan/ jumper and then plimsolls or trainers.

This is what we are going to have our main character as our storyline is meant to be about a boy living a 'normal' life so he doesn't need to be dressed up.

(We still need to think about the colours though)

Location
We have all looked and analysed our houses for our film we we are filming this in a house and we feel the one on the picture below is the best suitable for this film. As the downstairs is bigger which allows more room for filming and props.

We are filming our film mainly in a house but there is a few shots outside of the house before the main character walks into the 'family party'.
(pictures of hollys living room and kitchen)
The party is going to be shot in the same room where the main character is talking into the webcam (camera). This is the livingroom in the picture above.

The kitchen in the picture above is used for the main character to walk through into the party to show him arriving there.

Film review analysis.

As part of this project we are asked to make a film review page for our film therefore i am going to analyse this magazine review on the film 'I am Lengend'.

The dark blue colour for the title is quite striking which will make the reader, read on more. The little picture next to it will pull in the reader more if they like things to do with airplanes although this is much to do with airplanes.

Below the striking dark blue title of the film the first paragraph starts off with a light blue colour which may suggest it is more important then the rest of the reviews therefore this may help the audience wanting to read on. When the reader has read on this may encourage them to see the film. The reader may also be hooked after they've read the first little paragraph therefore if they read the whole thing it may encourage them to see the film from that.

The picture next to this review is a clip from the film 'I Am Legend' the main character and well known actor Will Smith is in this clip. Empire magazine have probably made sure they used a clip with the main character in as if people like Will Smith this will attract people who love Will Smith as an actor to watch this film or at least read the review/ buy the magazine if they flick through it and saw this.
The picture being big and covering a lot of the page may make the readers feel it wont take up much of their time to read because it doesn't look like much as the writing is small and picture of quite big. As it is a double page spread and there was not a big picture people may not be bothered or have time to read the whole reiveiw.

Inception Poster analysis.

I feel i should analyse this 'Inception' poster as i found this poster interesting and as part of our coursework we are choosing to make a poster to go with our short film.

I like the way in which they have in cooperated a picture of a shot from the film but a shot which is questioning to the audience. This could encourage people to go and see this film. This would make some people want to watch it as they would wonder to why there is a man standing in water by a lot of buildings. The only negative of this though is that people who don't like the genre of film this is portraying it wouldn't attract them therefore they have to use the rest of the poster to attract them.

They way they have put 'Leonardo dicaprio' right at the top will automatically attract an audience who like that famous 'good looking' actor. This is why they have chose to put this right at the top although we can't in cooperate this in our film as we wont be using any famous actors i still have recognised this is how they've also attracted another audience even if they don't like the look of the genre.

They have also included at the bottom that it's by 'The director of Dark night' A very famous and popular film so people will think this is automatically a good film as the director from a very successful film directed it.

They've included a slogan on this poster and the slogan is 'your hind is the scene of the crime' This slogan obviously relates to the film which gives the viewers an insight to the film a little. This straight away shows there if crime in this film. This slogan will also help people recognise the film is they see it on this poster then see the trailer on the TV they will then know to carry on watching the trailer which may encourage them to watch it. In our film poster i hope to include a catchy slogan to encourage the readers to want to watch our film.

In this picture on the background of the poster they have cleverly not given away too much of the film so it doesn't give you the narrative at all it's just there to encourage people to watch it and create an audience and to promote the film. This is a good thing to do because if you give away to much on a film it could put the audience off. Although I'm not sure I'd like the background of our poster to be a picture i will include a picture not necessarily of a shot in the film though maybe just the character but i could use this for inspiration if i choose to use a picture as the whole background of the poster.

Narrative of Film.

Below is what happens in each scene of our film not in detail yet.

Scene one

Main character is setting up the camera from outside view, then there is effect of home video footage. It being a 'webcam'

Miuffled noise and fuzzy.

Location: Bedroom or Livingroom at night time with dim lighting apart from a little lamp on the table next to the camera.

Main Character says into the 'webcam', 'I've been planning to do this for a while.. The family party started it.

Costume: Normal clothing. (think about colours still)

There will be a rope (suicide tool) subtly in the background of every single shot where he is talking into the camera.

Scene Two

Cut; A shot into the family party from the exact position he was sat in last scene and the party is around instead of his bedroom. Then events are shown from the party showing why he finalised his suicide desicion.

Scene Three

Starts with The main characters Dad being pervy by slipping his 'son' the main character notes and texts.

Then the main charater walks to parents bedroom and the dad is waiting. Bruises on the main character from dad. (Night scene)

Then cuts back to the webcam and he says 'He really loves me' Referring to his dad making this sound better then it it.

Scene four

Talking into the 'webcam' saying 'Mom loves me too'

Main character then walks downstairs to find a thick wad of postit notes left on the firdge. They are all nagging/horrible notes for example;
Note 1:You haven't done this
Note 2: You haven't done that
Note 3: your grades are falling/rubbish.
ect.

Scene Five

Main character says into the 'webcam' saying 'My firends are the best we had a good party last week'

Cuts to him sitting on msn by himself the night him and his friends were meant to be a t a party.

Scene Six

The main character talking into the 'webcam' saying 'My sister is always there for me'

Cuts to his sister slamming her door in main characters face.

He finally says into the webcam 'she really stuck up for me at the family party' Then it cuts to a bit at the family party when really she didn't stick up for him.

Scene Seven

Shows the main character hanging himself except you can only see him pushing the chair away and then his legs hanging. This is why the ropes been in the backgroud of his bedroom/livingroom the whole time.

Thirteen.

The film 'Thirteen' is the main full length film which has inspired us in many ways for our film.

This flim is about two friends which are thirteen years old. One of them get involved in drugs, sex, self harming and her friends ends up telling on her in the end and her mother finds everything including her scissors she used for cutting herself as her friend told the mother were she kept everything.

This is a drama film and our film is also going to be a drama film so this has given us ways of inspiration.

Some of the camera shots/movements in this have helped us decide on some of the shots/movements in our film. For example there is a movement early on in this film which is shaky and the camera has been knocked. In our film we are using a shot were the camera is shaky where the main character has been knocked.

We liked the way in which most of the events are shocking but so realistic. For example when the girl is cutting herself its so realistic yet shocking the fact that she is cutting herself at the age of thirteen years old.
